In-ground drain systems prevent severe soil erosion by improving drainage around concrete foundations.
For this project, our team added a reinforced concrete support and drain to a repaired pier and beam foundation. The soil around the house had severely eroded over time. Without an additional drain system design, this new pier foundation would have quickly suffered more damage. In this area of San Antonio, the dark clay soil is prone to saturation and displacement during periods of heavy rainfall. The packed rock channel will collect rainwater from the side and gutters and will direct water away from the foundation.
